Does MUGA Scan Affect The Blood In Anyway?

Hi I am on coumadin 5 mg for protein c defiency. I have had a stoke and a heart attack in the 90 s. My doctor wants to do a MUGA scan. Will this test affect my blood in anyway. This is a new doctor as my previous doctor who was around for my stoke and heart attack has left. Just wondered if necessary.

thank you for posting your query in healthcaremagic.com.....

well first of all, MUGA scan is a radionucleotide testing of the heart valves and the chambers too assess your cardiac morphology and functions....
it will not affect your blood...
your doctor is doing this because you had a heart attack before and its necessary to know your current cardiac activity....some doctors use echocardiography also but MUGA scan has some very good diagnostic value too...

hope this was helpful....
contact me for any further information....
