Does Lovastatin Over Dosage Cause Harmful Side Effects?

I accidentally doubled the amount of Lovastatin I should be taking for approximately 30 days. I have not had a normal bowel movement in at least 2 weeks. Normal amount of Rx is 1x 20mg tablet. Should I be concerned at this point. I tried to contact my doctor however am unable to get on line to his services.

I have read through your question and would like to tell you that lovastatin is a cholesterol lowering agent and is given in hypercholesterolemia.You said that you have been taking 40mg since the past one month.The dose is within the normal limits and it won't cause any side effects. The only thing is that you should get your lipid profile done so that your dose can be adjusted accordingly. I hope that answers your question.
