Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I thought I had given myself an ulcer due to taking too many ibuprofen over the years for back pain. I now take Vivian but when I run out I get a severe pain on my right side at the lower end of my ribs. Happens every time I take ibuprofen. I experience relief if I take ranidine extra strength. My son s Dr said you can heal any ulcer taking this medication. My Dr said that is not where your stomach is and didn t go any further. I recently had to take ibuprofen again over a weekend when I ran out of Vivian and the pain is back and not going away. I also wonder if it could be my gallbladder. Lately I have been having some reflux issues. What do you think could be causing this irritation. Burning most of the time now especially laying down. Pain is better if I lay on my left side. Thank you for your time and expertise!
It is not related to Ibuprofen. As first line management, you can take analgesics like paracetamol or aceclofenac for pain relief. If symptoms persist, it is better to consult a physician and get evaluated.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
