Does Fluconazole Affect The Menstrual Cycle?

I took fluconazole for a yeast infection about a week and a half after my last period ended. weeks have passed and I was supposed to get my period about 7 days ago. I have seen a lot of people saying that it has affected their cycle but medically it is not noted as a side effect. I am sexually active but I have taken a pregnancy test in the last day and it was negative. Have you seen fluconazole affecting period cycles?

Hi,

Fluconazole is an antifungal medication used for a variety of fungal infections. Common side effects include vomiting, diarrhoea, rash, and increased liver enzymes.

It is not known to affect menstrual cycle. If the delay of getting periods is for more than 10 days and your pregnancy test is negative, then you need to be evaluated for the cause for amenorrhea.

Kindly consult Obstetrician for clinical evaluation and appropriate management.
