Does Finasteride Cause Prostate Cancer?

Hi, my doctor prescribed Finasteride 5 mg and the paper that I got from the pharmacy says that a possible side effect is the slight possibility that it can cause a very aggressive kind of prostate cancer. When I look it up on the internet, I don t find that. I mentioned it to my doctor and he said the chance is very slim. I am afraid to take it. What are your thoughts?

hi sir,finasteride has got no evidence of causing any prostate cancer.not even a slight risk is known so far.of course it is not recommended in those with prostate cancer.more over,it may cause male breast engorgement,tenderness that too in very rare cases.so,you can go on with finasteride without any doubt of prostate cancer.i have many patients who have been using this with no remarkable side effects.hope my explanation clears your doubt.if not for a prolonged period,you can safely use it.any further questions are welcome with pleasure.thank you.wish you and your family a very happy,healthy and peaceful new year 2018.thank you.take care.bye.
