Does Effexor XR Tablet Cause Yellow Coating On Tongue?

I recently started taking Effexor XR that was prescribed for treatment of Hot flashes. Since I have been taking this (symptoms started the very next day) I have a thick yellow coating on my tongue and teeth feel like they are also coated. I have only been taking this for 3 days. Is this related to this medicine?

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The yellow coating may be due to oral candidiasis. This is not a known side effect of effexor though persons can react differently to medication.

There are anti fungal treatments that would be able to help treat the infection.

This can be topical or oral medication. Topical eg is nystatin. Oral eg are fluconazole or itraconazole.

I hope this helps
