Does Cefuroxime Cause Redness On The Cheeks?

I am taking Cefuroxime 500 mgs twice a day - started first pill yesterday. I am taking it for acute bronchitis...other antibiotic (5 day dose pack) failed. I received the prescription from an ER physician yesterday.. I just noticed my cheeks are very red....could this be from Cefuroxime. I am also taking Prednisone - 2 tabs twice a day after receiving IV prednisone at the ER. I have taken Prednisone tablets before without side effects. Your opinion is apprecitated.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Antibiotic is a very known drug for developing hypersensitivity and the given symptoms of red chick could be due to that only.

If the reaction is transient then it is nothing to worry, Prednisolone is doubtful and you could discuss this with your doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
