Does Amoxicillin Cause Itchy Hands And Feet?

Can amoxicillin cause itchy hands and feet? I was given a course for a chest infection and on the 4th day my hands and feet started to itch-insanely so. I m also 28 weeks pregnant so am now being tested for cholestasis but was hoping its medication related. I have taken it before without this issue however.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

I understand your concern.

The itchy hands and feet are not related to amoxicillin use. As you are 28 the weeks pregnant, pregnancy cholestasys is the most probable cause.

Get an abdominal ultrasound done to evaluate the gallbladder pathways. Get liver and kidney function test to evaluate the respective changes.

Hope this helps.
All the best to you and your baby.
