Does Amiodarone Cause Low Blood Pressure Levels?
My 85 yr old mother was diagnosed with a-fib 5 years ago and had a pacemaker implanted. She was put on amiodarone for a-fib. Her bp tends to go very low (91/44) and sometimes very high. She blacked out on me in April 2017 which prompted a 3 day hospital visit and a diagnosis of Orthostatic Hypertension. Could this amiodarone be causing her to spit of blood?

Yes Amiodarone has a side effect of causing Hypotension but spitting blood is not associated. Cardiologist opinion is highly recommended for low BP and blood spits.

Amiodarone affects the rhythm of heartbeats. It is used to treat ventricular tachycardia or
ventricular fibrillation.
It is commonly known to cause certain respiratory symptoms like cough, shortness of breath, dizziness, lightheadedness or fainting.
It is not known to affect blood pressure and cause low blood pressure. Probably, it could have been caused due to intrinsic problem in the heart itself.
Kindly consult Cardiologist for clinical evaluation and appropriate management.
