My throat hurts, my gum is swollen, I have an ulnar on my lip I ve had for about two weeks, my neck hurts, I m mainly experiencing this pain on the right right of my face where my gum got swollen. My ear hurts alot, the soft oral tissue in my mouth has gone yellowish, and my head just kills. Could this be oral cancer?

Hi Dear,

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of throat pain, swollen gum and headache along with lip ulcers which is not because of oral cancer, your symptoms are related to poor oral hygiene and impaired immunity of your body which increases susceptibility to microorganisms and continuous accumulation leads to symptoms of strep throat along with oral symptoms.

I would suggest you to visit dentist once and get yourself examined properly. Do warm saline gargles . Take combination of Ibuprofen and Diclofenac. Go for scaling and root planning of oral cavity. Yellowish discoloration in mouth is because of fungal infection. Do Nystanin suspensions gargles. Scrap off tongue very gently. Take antimicrobial mouthwash as well.

Visit oral pathologist once and get yourself examined by taking sample from your oral cavity to rule out malignancy.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
Dr. Harry Maheshwari
