Do Severe Intermittent Abdominal Cramps, Occurring For Several Hours, Indicate Cancer?

periodically I have had severe intermittent abdominal cramps. Initially when it occured, I just thought it was a stomach virus.it would last maybe 24 HOURS then go away. This last year, starting in December. I have had 3-4 episodes of Very painful, deep abdominal cramps/squeezing/contraction like, that start suddenly, and occur and occur intermittently for several hours. I m starting to get really concerned that I have something serious going on. My dad has had colon cancer twice. His mom died of stomach cancer in her 40 s, his dad died of prostate cancer. My 23 year old niece died of a rare cancer 4 years ago. What are your thoughts?

Hi

Thank you for query on HCM

I understood your concern about the painful cramps you experience. As per your said symptoms and conditions, its difficult to rule out without a GI check up. Make sure that you are not doing any strenous exercises or exertion.
Abdominal Cramps can be due to:
1.IBS(Irritable Bowel Syndrome)
2.Muscle strain
3. Gastroenteritis
4. Diverticulosis
5.Inflammatory Bowel disease
6.Intestinal Ileus
7. Giardiasis
8.Ulcerative Colitis etc.

Ulcerative Colitis has an increased risk for causing Colon Cancer. Treatment can cure the disease well before its malignant change...

Since you have a family history of cancer, Please do a thorough check up to rule out your diagnosis. Consult a Gastroenterologist immediately and get the right diagnosis treatment.

Wish you Good Health

Thank you
