Do Low Magnesium Levels Cause Sharp Pain In The Diaphragm Area?

Hello, I have been having sharp pains in the diaphragm area. I have really low magnesium levels. Is that the reason for the pain? I have had my gall bladder removed. I do have serious acid reflux. I was told this past summer that I have Barrets esophagus. This pain happens mostly at night. It is a very sharp, stabbing pain that goes all the way around to my back. After it subsides, the area is kind of sore.

Hi There

first of all you magnesium levels needs to be corrected as the potassium level are associated with magnesium levels that further can lead to cardiac arrhythmia that can be fetal.

the pain which you are feeling is mostly likely because of the acid reflux. Choronic acid reflux are the reason for Barret's Esophagus . you should be very careful with this and should take its treatment seriously. You need to continue the follow up with the gastroenterologist as being a patient of Barret's esophagus you are at the risk to develop easophageal adenocarcinoma.

Start treatment as your gastroenterologist will advise and a little change in lifestyle as
- avoid spicy food
- avoid fatty foods , caffeine , chocolates
- avoid alcohol and tobacco
- loose weight
-drink lots of water with your medicines
-don't lie for 3 hours after eating

Good Luck
