Do Elevated CRP Levels Increase The Risk Of A Cardiac Disorder?

when i take my blood tests my crp is always in the range 3.5- 3.9.The lab values say normal range is from 1 to 6. so my reading comes within the normal range I am perfectly healthy, 29 year old, normal BMI female.i had my baby through c section 16 months back I read online that crp greater than 3mg/dl shows high cardiac risk,i havent had any cardiac issues so far , i found out about the crp during my normal routine blood test that i do. Do i need to be worried about the crp level.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Your CRP is very well with in the normal range and nothing to worry in it. Very high CRP values seen in rheumatic heart disease and in that case the values will be above 50. In your case there is no cardiac risk and no need to worry at all. You can do an echocardiogram just for reassurance.

Wishing you good health.

Thanks.
