Do Anxiety And Depression Cause Psoriasis?

I have psoriasis which is an immune deficiency. Can this be related to anxiety, depression, mood swings, dry itchy eyes, toenail fungus/toenail falling off and loss of hair? What specialist do I need to see. My PCP has already ran fasting and thyroid tests and my thyroid levels are fine.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Psoriasis is common chronic genetically mediated inflammatory proliferating disorder of skin. The severity of psoriasis may increase with stress and drug abuse. Avoid alcohol and smoking.

Treatment may vary depending upon the severity of the disease and age of the patient and associated conditions. Please consult your dermatologist who will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu
