Do Rooster Comb Injections Contain Steroids?

I am having a problem with pain in right knee.I have had two hip replacements, however, recently I have lost 80 lbs.,I have been power walking, kayaking, swimming all summer at our lake, and now the right knee has become painful.A friend told me she gets rooster comb injections for her left knee.So I have an appmt with an orthopedic surgeon for these injections next week. Now,today someone mentioned to me be careful of steroid shots as they eventually deteriorate bone. Is the rooster comb injection a steroid?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Rooster comb injection doesn’t contain steroids and its main constituents are natural substances like hyaluronic acid that has almost no side effects. They act like a lubricant in the knee and reduce both friction and pain. You can take rooster comb without any concerns.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
