Do Lyrica And Endep Interfere With The Effectiveness Of Muscle Relaxants?
My 85 yr o9ld mother has severe osteoarthritis in many areas. Her scoliosis is caused by this and is causing extremes pain. She is on many medications for various issues. I am an RN of many years. She has bronchiectasis, as well. But the main problem inhibiting non-steroidal med is a large hiatus hernia where half her stomach is in her thoracic cavity. The gastro Dr yesterday, prescribed endep 10mg plus lyrica 150mg bd. , plus panadol-osteo 2 tab bd. I am concerned about both the lyrica and endep as they also have the side effect of muscle relaxation and are contra-indicated for v large hiatus hernia. Do you have any other meds that she could consider as I can only see narcotics left to try. The gastro dr was really in a hurry and would have just wanted her out the door . These drugs do not interfere with the muscle relaxants. However, taking endep along with lyrica may cause dizziness, drowsiness, confusion, and difficulty concentrating. In the elderly they may also cause impaired thinking, judgment, and motor coordination. Yes, she should avoid certain medications like non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, calcium channel blockers, sedatives and tranquilizers which are associated with heartburn.
