Do Losartan And Hyzaar Differ From Each Other?

my insurance will no longer pay for hyzaar and have put me on losartan. I I can notice a big difference in way I feel. Dr advises losartan and hyzaar are same product. Is there any difference in two products and if no difference why does losartan make me feel light headed, anxious, and cause blood pressure to be elevated after taking tablet? These things did not happen with hyzaar.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Hyzaar is a combination of losartan and hydrochlorothiazide. The blood pressure maybe slightly higher because you are no longer getting the hydrochlorothiazide.

Your doctor may need to add this individually or another medication if your blood pressure is not controlled.

In terms of the anxiety and lightheaded sensation, you were on the losartan before so it should not have this response but it is possible the different manufacturers may have caused slight differences in the medication.

I hope this helps
