Do Lipitor Side Effects Increase Pain In The Muscles And Joints?

My doctor is recommending I take Lipitor for elevated cholesterol. My cholesterol is 120. I have concerns for the side effects of the drug. I have diabetes as well as fibromyalogia. Won t the side effects of Lipitor increase my muscle and joint pain as well as the risk of kidney failure since I already have these concerns/issues?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Pain in the muscles and joints are common side effects of Lipitor.

Usually, these side effects are related to the long use of Lipitor.

I suggest you o stop the medications and consider taking an alternative medication.

Meanwhile, you can use anti-inflammatory medications to relieve the pain.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi,
