Do Cortisone Injection Cause Low WBC Count?
I have a white blood count of 14.6. I had two cortisone injections for hip pain this year (Feb. &I late June). My Orthopaedic doctor has scheduled a total hip replacement for Oct. 10 if my white count lowers before then. I had never had cortisone shots before. Could those shots have affected my white blood count?

Cortisone injection increases the number of circulating white blood cell count. Your doctor has scheduled your surgery after your blood reports show the desired normal reports.
Commonly patients for hip replacement surgery wait for three months if they have steroid injections. Hip replacement is done too soon after steroid injection increases the risk of infection.
