Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a 64 yr old male. Had a colonoscopy 11/2014 completely clean. I take losartan for hypertension daily and 2 40 mg omeperazole daily for gastric acidity. In May, I began taking 1 cartia daily in addition to losartan. Ever since, I have been experiencing bouts of constipation and really troubled by the frequency of this. Could the BP melds by causing this?
Yes, Cartia is known to cause constipation hence you may please talk to your Doctor to change over to some other antihypertensive. Also increase your fibers in diet. Take stool softener and laxatives as needed. Not to worry really. Also see that there is no stress or anxiety as these are known to cause constipation.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. T Chandrakant, ENT & General Surgeon
