Dizzy After Exercise, Prominent Veins In Temple. High Blood Pressure?

Whilst at the gym squating weights i normally feel a little dizzy after doing the exercise. However today a massive blue vain could be seen from temple down to jaw line, and i almost passed out. (down right side of face). Now over 4 hours later side of face still sore, however appearence of vain disapeared after 5mins. Thinking blood presure, (checked two days ago was fine.) perhaps the barbell holding the weights is cutting off a vain or blood supply this a case of high blood presure? any thing to worry about with general health (of course going to stop doing this exercise no other health complains only when doing this one exercise The vain down right side of face, is this pushing blood away from brain or towards?

Dear patient

Thanks for your health concerns; the vein that you are referring to drains the facial structures into the deep veins of the neck that go to the heart; when you push when lifting weights, you decrease the venous return to the heart and that pressure is transmitted back to the veins, and that is why it pops up.

Yours truly,

Dr Brenes-Salazar MD
