Did I Have A Concussion On The Right Side Of My Head?
I had a large pot fall from the upstairs and break on my right side of my head. I did not black out. Now i have a terrible headache and the right side of my head is numb. The pain shoots into my right ear. Will this just go away or do I have a concussion?
You may have suffered a concussion and you can expect symptoms to last up to six weeks but the symptoms should gradually improve each day. The diagnosis of concussion is a clinical diagnosis meaning that there is not a test to confirm a concussion and usually the diagnosis is made by the symptoms and how the injury occurred and not finding any other likely causes of those symptoms.
Either way it is important to not hit your head again over the next 2 - 4 weeks because if you did have a concussion re-injury to your brain while recovering from a concussion can cause devastating injuries. So avoid riding a bike or walking on ice or anything that increases your chance of hitting your head. If you become confused, nauseous, or black out or any other concerning symptoms seek immediate medical attention. Otherwise you will get a little better each day.
