Diagnosed With Fibromyalgia, Severe Rib Cage Pain, Stiff Ankles, Calves And Feet, Dizzy. Any Ideas ?

Hi,
I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia. I really do not believe that is whats wrong with me. The medication I'm on isn't helping at all. I am having severe rib cage pain in the afternoons, in the mornings my ankles, calves and feet are very stiff, I have dizziness on some days but not every day. If I stand for a while, my hip, spine and rib cage starts hurting. Its almost unbearable. This morning I woke up with pain and a little dizzy. Now I not only am dizzy I have a headache. This is weird, but sometimes I feel like I have something crawling on me. When I look, I don't see anything. Its almost like getting goose bumps, but in only one spot. I have had an EMG done years ago and it showed that I had something wrong with my L4 and L5, but the doctor never said what was wrong. I've never had an MRI. Any Ideas??

Hello,
Welcome to Healthcaremagic.

As it is EMG report, Doctor may indicated the Radiculopathy L4 and L5.
Radiculopathy is a consequence of nerve root damage by any cause like compression, disc extrusion, prolapse etc..
Lumbar radiculopathy may cause pain in Buttock and may radiate to thigh leg and foot.
It a better to take the MRI spine to identify the cause or radiculopathy.
Physiotherapy is usually helpful.
Surgical invention like discectomy may be needed.
You can take NSAIDS and muscle relaxants for pain.

As for your fibromyalgia is concerned, at present there is no cure for this disease.
still now cause for this disease is under research. Scientists proposed it as genetic or infective. But not yet confirmed.
Fibromyalgia patients are affected by plenty of symptoms including,Body pain, fatigue, headache, dizziness, sleeplessness etc..

Only symptomatic management and lifestyle modification are helpful in this disease.

If possible do Aerobic exercise and get proper sleep even if you feel un sleepiness. eat healthy foods.
Do yoga and meditation to get relief from fear and to develop your internal strength to face the disease.

Hope this helps,
Take care.

Regards,
Dr.Manjeth
