Is it advisable to take chlorpromazine with haloperidol along with nitrazepam? Feeling sedated and drowsy.Kindly tell me the side effects for these medication. Is it advisable to switch over to another antipsychotic which has the same efficacy as the above drug combination?

Hi,

All the four medications can make you feel sedated and drowsy. But since nitrazepam is given only for sleep, you can discuss with your doctor regarding stopping it. Even chlorpromazine has no significant anti-psychotic activity in the dose you are taking, but makes you more sleepy. So the daytime doses of chlorpromazine can be skipped if your doctor agrees. There are many other antipsychotic agents which are equally efficacious and can be considered if you want a change.

Hope this helps you. Best wishes.
