Diagnosed With Ollier's Disease. MRI Showed Multiple Tumors In Right Foot And Toe, Severe Pain. Any Treatment Other Than Amputation Of Foot?
Hi, My 20 year-old daughter has recently been diagnosed with Ollier's Disease. AN MRI showed she has 5 tumors in her right foot, three in her little toe which is causing her considerable pain. We live in Australia and no Doctor I have seen knows anything about it! In 2 weeks we are seeing an ankle/foot orthopedic surgeon who may propose amputation. My question, are there any treatments/medication which may be useful and an alternative to such drastic action? Why can't they cut out the tumors or use radiation etc? Thankyou Julie NSW
I am wondering why are you thinking of an amputation. Ollier's disease is a benign condition in which surgical correction is done for the deformities. So be rest assured and see the orthopedic surgeon who shall guide you after examining your daughter and reviewing the investigations.
I hope I have answered your query to your satisfaction.
Wishing your daughter all the best.
