Detection Of Mesothelioma. Had Convulsion. Possibility Of Malignant Mesothelioma. Had Chest Xray. What Is Suggested?

Dear Sir,

As per the discussion I am forwarding you the details of the detection of Mesothelioma of my father. It will be very helpful if you can refer some doctor as discussed so that we can come to a stage where either treatment can be started or can start remedial measures. For your convenience i am giving a brief history. I will be very much thankful if you can kindly help from your busy schedule.

He was admitted to hospital in the month of January 2013 for routine checkup but on the same date of admission he was attacked by sudden convulsion which later diagnosed as sodium level fall for which he was in ITU for 6 days and in hospital for another 10 days and then released. (He was under Dr. TAPAS Roy of Peerless)

After a 10-15 days rest he joined office and continued for a month but suddenly due to fever and a small pain in the lower chest doctor advised for chest XRay and later CT Scan Thorax. Which shown as Pleural effussion and neoplastic etiology. He was then admitted again and TRUCUT PLEURAL BIOPSY done. Whose Histopathology report showed Possibilities of 1>MALIGNANT MESOTHELIOMA & 2> NON SMALL CELL CARCINOMA.
The IHC (Immuno Histo Chemistry) showed:

CALRETININ +VE
CYTOKERATIN +VE
TTF-1 -VE
EMA -VE
CD 45 -VE

IMPRESSION : PLEURAL MESOTHELIOMA.

He was under Dr. Ajoy Krishna Sarkar of Peerless. He was released after 10 days and he was not having any pain or weakness.

After 5 days of release he was again stuck with Sodium fall for which he was admitted again for treatment of the same and released after 5 days. Now he is fine with only weakness and no pain in chest.

Note: As per Dr. A K Sarkar there is no such treatment or rather response to treatment by CHEMO/RADIO Therapy as he is having a slow growth tendency so its better to give supplementary treatment. Also this is a disease which has caused due to job related hazzard where from he inhaled asbestos kind of particles which affected after 30 years as my father was there with CESC power generating station for around 5 years in the year 1979/80. I also consulted with Dr. SHAIKAT GUPTA of APollo who referred to medical onocology as no surgical remedy is there. Please advice.

Hi,

SORRY to hear that you are suffering from mesothelioma.

Based on the information I agree with your oncologist as their is no use for having an surgical procedure as its region can't be located exactly, and even a single small cell that remains in the lung can once again start the whole cancer again from scratch, more over its not possible to excise large area of lung and still a person can be alive.

Best treatment is the chemotherapy with radiation, as they can help to reduce the spread and increase the life span.

Hope it helps.
