Could The Sharp Pain In The Ileum Be Due To Pravastatin Taken For Arthritis?

I woke up with a sharp pain in what looks like the ileum. I could hardly get out of bed and walk. I am up and about now and it has subsided. I spend a lot of time sitting at the computer. I take Pravastatin. I am 76 years old.

Some weeks ago, I had pain in my neck and across my shoulders. Years ago, I had persistent lower back pain, but that doesn't seem to bother me very much anymore (I had fallen down wood step) So is this from the Pravastatin, which I have been taking for years, arthritis, deteriorating bones, or something else?

I am a little confused about your question, as Pravastatin is taken for high cholesterol, not arthritis. Pravastatin may cause muscle aches and pains. I strongly doubt that it caused the pain in your ileum. I would be more concerned about something like appendicitis. When you have severe pain like that, it is critical that you see a doctor as soon as possible. I am glad it has subsided, but get checked right away if it happens again. Arthritis or deteriorating bones may cause back, neck, and shoulder pain. These type of pains are more likely to be related to arthritis than to the Pravastatin, especially since you have been on the Pravastatin for so long. The muscle pains from Pravastatin usually occur when you first start taking the drug.

Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.
