Could Taking Diltiazem 120 Mg Along With Lisinopril 20 Lower BP?

I am on Lisinopril 20 and now my doctor want me to take diltiazem 120 mg for my fast heart rate of 154,I am worried that my blood pressure will go to low. It has been good 114 / 70 on just Lisinopril. Will it take it to low if I take both pills together?

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

Welcome to HCM and thanks for your query.
I understand your concern.
It is possible that your blood pressure may come down with the additive actions of diltiazem and lisinopril. Your heart rate is far ahead of the normal and diltiazem is a good medicine for the same. Unless you have a problem like kidney involvement due to diabetes, there is no advantage of Lisinopril. So if your blood pressure drops with the combination, Lisinopril dose may be reduced and even discontinued if your doctor agrees.
If you have further queries, I am availble.
Take Care,
Dr Noble Zachariah
