Could Soreness And Swelling In The Neck And Lower Back Be From Snorting Cocaine?

Hi, I snorted cocaine for a few months on and off and I stopped a few days due to swollen lymph nodes in my neck front and back, and also swollen lymph nodes in my lower back. My neck feels sore and swollen and my lower back is also sore. Could this be from snorting cocaine?

Hello,

Swelling of the lymph nodes in the neck and back is not due to snorting cocaine but because of underlying health condition. The symptoms are due to developing lymphadenopathy, lymph nodes enlargement, cervical adenopathy, etc. Cervical lymphadenopathy occurs due to URTI, bacterial or viral infection, CMV, etc.

Snorting cocaine cause facial swelling, changes in the heart rhythm, coronary artery vasospasm, cardiac arrest, stroke, nasal crusting, chronic sinus infection, etc. Go to your GP for a check up. You will have to go through required blood and imaging tests to detect the pathology causing the symptoms. You will be accordingly treated. Do not snort cocaine it is injurious for health.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
