welcome at HCM..
i really appreciate your health concerns.
Is there any swelling of the affected joint? any difficulty in walking and climbing stairs?
As far as torn piriformis is concerned, it is one the lateral rotator of the hip joint. it works in conjunction with the other muscles of the hip joint.
It is not possible to confirm diagnosis just on clinical examination, there is need to get an
MRI to clearly delineate the pathology...
The sypmtoms of torn piriformis are mostly realted to
SCIATIC nerve , which comes into the gluteal region beneath the muscle, causing pain in the buttocks and
referred pain along the sciatic nerve , mostly along back of leg to the toe. This referred pain is known as
sciatica.
In my opinion , you should withheld all your physical activities and take rest. avoid bending and straining and dance too. give time to your affected muscle to heal.
Take rest, do regular icing and use
acetaminophen to relieve pain.
it will take atleast a week to completely heal.
if a problem persists , then meet ORTHOPEDIC surgeon.
get well soon
