Hi,

As per the history you have provided the popped up vein looks to be a bleeding spot as your doctor has asked you to call the hospital on any such incidence. The pain in the joint may or may not be related to the present problem.Hence I would advise you the following. Consult your doctor as soon as possible for clinical re-valuation, examination and investigations to know the cause.
- Bleeding time
- Clotting time
- Prothrombine time
- Other tests of blood like liver function tests, kidney and thyroid functions

An opinion of a hematologist if needed. Since there may be a bleeding tendency you have to be very careful in taking painkillers as some of these can increase bleeding tendency. Hence the popped up vein behind knee may be related indirectly to your additional symptoms.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
