Could Recurring High Fever In An Infant Be Due To Teething?
my son climbed out of a high chair while i was out of the room and got a scrap on his cheek. Other than that i do not see anything. he also 6 days ago got his first tooth on top and a second one is close. About 12 hours after the fall he started running a fever that has peeked at about 103 then back to normal then starts again. I was blaming it on the teeth but could it be the fall?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns.
As per your complain the fever does not seems to be due to fall until there is any wound formation that gets infected leading to Septicemia and infection.. The cause can be other causes like Viral infection causing fever.. Teething can cause fever but mostly the fever is mild and in case if your son is having high fever you should consult aa Paediatrician and get evaluated and a proper clinical evaluation and investigations like Blood test can help in diagnosis and treatment can be planned accordingly.. As of now you can give him Acetaminophen or Tylenol and do cold sponges over the forehead and hands and legs..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora
