Could Racing Heart And Irregular Heartbeat Indicate Recurring Graves Disease?

I was recently scheduled to have a cateract removed. When I was about to be taken into the operating theatre, they told me they could not do the surgery due to a racing and irregular heartbeat . I had Graves disease about 5yrs ago and was treated with medication. Can this return?

Dear
Welcome to HCM
We understand your concerns

I went through your details. Graves' disease is an immune system disorder that results in the overproduction of thyroid hormones (hyperthyroidism). Rapid and irregular heart beats and anxiety are some of the symptoms of graves disease. But here, in your case, You don't have to associate this with that. This could just be simple anxiety because of the apprehension about the cataract surgery. You have to consult the ophthalmologist again for a remedy. You may also consult a physician for investigating your thyroid hormones.
