Could Long Term Use Of Spirolactone Effect Health?
I am taking spirolactone from 2.5 years for hypokalemia. I am advised to take this drug for lifetime.I dont see any side effects till date but if i have to take it lifelong does it will have any impact on my body and can i live a normal life if i continue to take this drug for lifetime.

The side effects of spironolactone in males are gynaecomastia (breast in males), loss of sexual drive, erectile dysfuction. in females it causes breast tenderness and menstrual irregularities.
along with that, there chances of hyperkalemia, ulcer in stomach.
discuss these things with your physician. if you have to take this for long time, all these side effects need to be monitored.
