Could Irregular EKG Be Caused By My Multiple Sclerosis Attack?

I have secondary progressive ms and took a ekg for catarac surgery. While taking the test, which i failed, I was hot and felt I was having an ms attack. In addition I was under extreme stress because of many tests that had preceded the ekg. The test showed pvc and irregular heartbeat. I could feel my heart doing a thump that I never feel on a normal basis. Could this irregular ekg be caused by my ms attack that I was having at the time. I have had ms for 39 years but lead a healthy lifestyle.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

You have a history of Multiple Sclerosis, MS patients have a high risk to develop cardiovascular diseases. Obesity, smoking & alcohol may trigger it. You are suggested to get clinically assessed by a cardiologist.

You should get CBC, Urinalysis, Lipid function tests, repeat EKG, Echo, stress tests done to detect any developing CAD. Your treatment will depend on the pathology detected.Avoid addictions if any, take home made food, do regular exercises.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
