Could Fever And Fatigue Be The Side Effects Of Pravachol?

my brother started 40mg of pravachol 8 days ago. Within two days he developed flu-like symptoms, fever, muscle fatigue/weakness and nausea. He is no longer running a fever but still feels fatigue. I told him to stop the pravachol and let the doctor know Monday morning. Is it ok to abruptly stop the pravachol? do these symptoms warrant a visit to the emergency room or is it ok for him to wait and see the doctor on Monday? thx

I can understand the problem of your brother, you do not worry about it.
Fever and fatigue are the important side effects of Pravachol mimicking like flu like symptoms. This is due to the inflammation of muscles caused by Pravachol. It is better to stop taking the medication, its abrupt stoppage will not cause him any problem no need for him to visit the emergency room he can wait to see his doctor. Meanwhile give him Paracetamol for his fever and body ache which will subside in due course of time.
