Could Excessive Drinking Of Wine Cause Stomach Indigestion/acid?
Hi, may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here... Hi I am a fit 41 yr femail and have drank approx 3rd bottle of wine most days for approx 18 yrs. i don' t binge drink and thought this was ok. I have recently started to suffer from stomach acid and slow stomach digestion on a regular basis. Could this be caused by my drinking pattern
Yes, excessive wine may cause alcoholic gastritis which may lead to indigestion, ulcer formation and also cause reflux disease. Also cause alcoholic fatty liver disease which also causes indigestion and malabsorption.
So, try to quit alcohol slowly. Use tablet Nexium before breakfast for one week and avoid spicy food. If symptoms not improved, please consult your doctor, he/she will examine and treat you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu
