Could Breast Tenderness And Cramping Be Due To A Pregnancy?
I started my period July 11th and ended it on the 14th and am on the pill. I started UTI meds the 13th and they lasted til the 17th. I had unprotected sex the 16th and several times soon after. On the 24th I started noticing my breasts were tender and had slight cramping. What are my chances of being pregnant? Is it too soon to take a test? My next period isn't due til August 8th.
Since you are on birth control pills, the chances of pregnancy are practically nil provided you are taking the pills regularly. Your treatment for UTI should not interfere the action of birth control pills.
Birth control pills contain progestational medicine which is known to engorge the breasts and make them tender. It is due to water retention. Curtailing salt in your diet might give some relief. Cramping in the abdomen is most likely to be due to raised acidity in the stomach due to progesterone and oestrogen in the pill. Some proton pump inhibitor like Pantoprazole will give you relief.
For confirmation of pregnancy status, you have following options:
1. Wait for missing period. If you do not miss period, you are not pregnant. Missing a period is the first cardinal symptom of early pregnancy.
2. If you miss period, perform pregnancy test on overnight first morning urine sample about a week after; done earlier, these tests may report false negative results.
