Could Black And Purple, Hard Bruise On Buttock After A Hit Be Blood Poisoning?

Last Friday I slipped on a cottage deck in the rain and hit the arm of a muskoka chair on my left buttock. It was a very hard impact and the bruise is extremely large and dark. It is as large as the left cheek of my butt. There is a huge pooling of blood now and I haven t been feeling very good since this morning. The skin did not break but it is extremely sore to the touch. Where the bruise is really black & purple has a hard feeling to it when I touch it. What is the possibility of getting blood poisoning from this wound?

Hi,Welcome to healthcare magic. After going through your query I think you has got large hematoma at your left buttock .Whether you is having fever or not ?If you has no fever, then no need to worry much.Hematoma gradually resolved by itself .Thrombophob gel local application three times a day over it(no rubbing) can help in resolving it. Subcutaneous hematoma gets color changes in there natural course of their evolution and may take longer time. Sometimes haematoma does not resolve by themselves. In these cases aspiration with wide bore needle is done to suck the collected blood under aseptic condition for which you need to visit doctor.Ultrasound abdomen will be helpful to establish the diagnosis and to exclude other causes. There is nothing like blood poisoning from these. There is some possibility of getting infected, then there will be fever.Hope I have answered your query.
Wishing you good health.
Take care
