A guy on my bus was sweating from running and I touched his arm and then a minute or so after I touched my face and he said he has a sexualy transmitted infection (STI) and he said it could be transmitted to me because I touched my face. Is this true?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hi Thank you for asking HCM. I have gone through your query. It is not true. Sexually transmitted infections are spread by sexual contact by secretions in genitals. Sweat doesn't spread such infections. Fungal infection in skin can be spread like that. Those are not dangerous. Anti fungal ointments will be helpful to clear up those. So you don't need to worry. Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear. Thanks.
