Constant Slight Headache And Pain In Neck. MRI Reports Normal. Suggested Relaxing Exercises. Concerning?
Hi, My son who is 31 says he always has a slight headache and aches in his neck. Some days are worse than others. He's been to his doctor who ruled our sinus infection. He's had an MRI and everthing looked fine. The doctor thinks he stresses out too much and to try to do some relaxing exercises which he does. He also works out and runs occasionally which sometimes helps. His job requires him to be at the computer all day so he tries to get up and move around during the days also. I'm worried about him. Do have any idea what is going on or what he should do? Thank you.
Hello, Thanks for the query to H.C.,.Forum. Continuous work without any movements of neck is responsible for this pain. Due to strain the neck muscles become very stiff due to immobility hence there is pain. Due to straining of neck muscles there develops pain particularly in occipital region of head ( back side). Here are two options, 1 Rest of 10 minutes after every one hour of computer work. 2 Regular exercise of 30-45 minutes of neck. Consult a physiotherapist and he will advice you various exercises of neck. Only treatment is exercises of neck , no medication , in my opinion. Good luck. Dr. HET
