Child With Pain On The Leg, Area Warm And Hard To Touch. Given Advil, Applied Calamine Lotion. Worrisome?

Early this afternoon my 3 1/2 yr old son showed me a boo boo on the back of his leg. He said it hurt but was not itchy. It did not look a bee sting or a mosquito bite. I cleaned it with alcohol and put some Calamine lotion on it and gave him some Advil . The area is hard and warm to the touch. He has no other sumptoms. Should I be very concerned? Should I take him to the doctors?
