Child Has Swollen Gland On Neck, No Pain, No Fever, No Lethargy. Taken Augmentin. Done Blood Test

Dear Doctor,
Hello!
My son (4yrs, 9 months) has a swollen gland (almost 2-3 cm big) on the left side of his neck, under the jaw. It has been there for ~10 days now... it doesn't have any pain when touched... my child has no associable symptoms like fever, reduced activity, lethargy etc.
We got him checked by a pediatrician.. he told us not to worry as it is normal in children and is part of their immune system and it will subside by itself.... however, we took him to another pediatrician for a second opinion after 7 days of no improvement in the size of the swelling... the next doctor recommended that we start an anti-biotic (Augmentin by GSK company)... he told us to continue this for ~ a week. He also recommended some blood test which we got done. Following are his blood report results:

1) CBC REPORT
Test Result Normal Range
Haemoglobin 10.2 g/dl 11-14
Haematocrit 31.7 % 34-40
RBC 4.06 3.9-5.3
MCV 78.1 75-87
MCH 25.1 pg 24-30
MCHC 32.2g/dl 31-37
WBC 10.8 5-15
Neutrophils 56.6% 25-45
Lymphocytes 28.2% 40-60
Eosinophils 5.6% 1-6
Monocytes 9.3% 4-8
Basophils 0.3% 0-1
Platelets 470 150-400
ESR (Westergren) 29 mm/1st hr 0-15
Peripheral film normocytic, normochromic, platelets increased on film

2) LDH REPORT
Test Result Normal Range
LDH 382 i.u/l 142-297

Please advice, as my wife is extremely worried... thanks alot.

Pediatrician, Pulmonology 's  Response
Hi,
The results of the blood tests are normal.

The lymphnodes get swollen usually in small children because they minimise he spread of the infection.

You may continue the augmentin up to seven days and after that everything is going to resolve.

If it continues you can perform an ultrasound of the neck and consult the doctor again.
