Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic.

Your child is having an infectious gastroenteritis mostly due to a bacteria or virus.

The mainstay of treatment in diarrhea is to maintain and monitor the hydration of the child.

ORS can be give to maintain hydration of the child.

Monitor hydration of the child by activity, urine output, skin turgor, and tongue moisture.

Probiotic sachets like saccharomyces or lactobacillus spores can be given orally 3 to 5 days to restore healthy protective gut flora.

Zinc supplementation will be helpful.

If it is due to bacterial infection, antibiotic to be given for 3 to 5 days.

Consult the pediatrician for assessment and for prescription.

Hope I have answered your query.

Regards.
