My child has a Mitochondrial Disorder. His colon is huge and not functioning regularly. After 6 years of Miralax and Senna laxatives, an appendicostomy was recomended and done last month. At this time, his flushes are done with sterile saline, and he is up to a volume of 800mL every evening and 2 senna ExLax tablets each night at bedtime. However, this liquid is not coming through the colon and emptying, rather my son is urinating in huge volumes. Tests today showed that contrast is staying right near the cecum and not moving through the colon at any speed at all. Now a colectomy has been mentioned. Any thoughts?? I will gladly answer more questions. Thank you in advance. CL
