Child Diagnosed With Adenoid Hypertrophy. Is Treating Catarrh Necessary Before Operating Adenoids?

Hello doctor, I have a 3 year old son who has serious difficuty in breathing while sleeping. His nose is blocked and he breathes with his mouth. He did an x-ray and it revealed that he had adenoid hypertrophy. The ENT doctor says she will operate on him but she needs to treat the catarrh he s having first. Does d catarrh have anything with d operation?my son hasn t slept for 4 days, he simply can t breathe most of d time

Hi,
Thanks and welcome to HCM.
Your son is suffering from URTI.
give him steam inhalation 2 times daily
give wickoryl syrup 5ml 3 times daily.
You may put saline nasal drops in his nose 2-3 times daily.
If it does not subside within 2-3 days you may have to add an antibiotic in consultation with your doctor.
Surgery for adenoids can wait.
He may undergo surgery at a latter date if it is really required,
Hope this answer will serve your purpose.
