Chest Pain When Resting. Help

I am a healthy woman 50 years old. I am experiencing sharp zapping pains on the left side of my chest. It happens when I am at rest and has been happening tonight as I am trying to fall asleep. The pain only lasts for a few seconds, Then it happens again a little bit later. (maybe 10_20 minutes) This happened a month or so ago and lasted on and off for a few days then it went away.

Hello,
Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum.
Age is 50 years,
Female,
left side chest pain ( few seconds) ,
Recurring.
Reasons are many as,
Due to decrease amount of estrogen after 50 years in female develops menopause syndrome.
If pain is more than 30 seconds than consider it a pain of heart.
If this pain refers to left side of shoulder joint, left arm, chin, than think about heart pain.

Age is a big factor of heart pain .
So consult a physician and get in blood for lipid profile, E C G, C B C, X ray of chest ( so that size of heart evaluated).
Consultant will decide future course of action.
Hope I have answered your question.
If further any question I will help.
Good luck.
Dr. HET
