Can Zerolac Cause Loose And Watery Stool?

Hi, My daughter is 4 months old and she started passing motion frequently (which is actually not loose motion). We were giving her enfamil in addition to breastfeeding.Dr suggested Zerolac instead of enfamil since she has lactose intolerance. Does zerolac cause loose motion since she has watery stool ? Also can we add sugar to zerolac to taste better ? She is rejecting since it is not sweet.. Thanks in advance...

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

It would be best not to add sugar to the milk because the need for sweetness is not in born , it is developed over time. This means that children and adults who do not use a lot of sugar, do not develop the need for sugar and sweet foods or a sweet tooth (this would be a lot healthier for her).

In addition the sugar would alter the milk and may also be contributing to the loose stool as well.

It is possible that this milk is causing the loose stool if this started soon after the milk was changed.
Milk can cause constipation or loose stool or bloating in some babies.
You would need to speak to your doctor for an alternative.

I hope this helps
