Can Wearing Compression Stockings For Long Cause Nosebleed?

I experienced a nosebleed after removing compression stockings which I had on for about 5-6 hours after completing some air travel. This was only the second time I had worn them and the first time this has happened. My doctor recommended them for travel over 3 hour duration because of pulmonary embolism I experienced 2 years ago.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HELLO,
i can understand your concern.
i would like to know if you have been using warfarin or similar drugs daily for the prevention of pulmonary embolism.
these are blood thinning drugs which are used to prevent development of clots in a person prone to develop embolism.
these drugs lead to an increased risk of bleeding.
compression stockings do not lead to bleeding, rather they are beneficial in a patient who is at risk of development of clots.
i would suggest a pt inr test done which is a basic test done during the usage of such drugs and the dose of the drug adjusted accordingly.
please do get back to us with the queries asked by me.
hope you are satisfied with our response.
thanks for choosing HCM
