Can Uterine Fibroids Cause Excessive Weight Gain?

My weight gain is out of control. My ankles and legs swell terribly. I have heavy periods with severe cramps and heavy discharge afterwards. I have been diagnosed with fibroids but it seems like there is more to it. Iodine gave me lighter periods but I gain weight rapidly.

Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
By your history and description, possibility of hormonal imbalance is more.
And fibroids are commonly seen in women with hormonal imbalance.
So better to consult gynecologist and get done clinical examination and hormone levels.
You may need hormone pills to regulate hormones on the basis of reports.
Another possibility is hypothyroidism. So also get done serum TSH, free T3 and free T4.
Don't worry, you will be alright. Consult gynecologist and discuss all these.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
